\nVeistroffer\u2019s rapid turnaround comes off the back of the Tour of Hainan<\/a>, where he had been racing just days before travelling to Europe.<\/p>\n

That shift in environment, from stage racing in Asia to one of the hardest one-day races on the calendar, leaves little room for traditional preparation. \u201cI expect nothing and everything at the same time,\u201d he said, reflecting both the uncertainty and opportunity of his situation.<\/p>\n

A profile suited to early Li\u00e8ge chaos<\/p>\n

While the circumstances of his inclusion are unusual, Veistroffer\u2019s racing style gives him a clear role in how the opening phase of Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge could unfold.<\/p>\n

The Frenchman has already shown his ability to animate races this season, most notably with a breakaway victory at the Tour of Oman, where he attacked from distance and held off the peloton.<\/p>\n

That aggressive approach makes him one of the riders to watch in the early kilometres on Sunday. \u201cI\u2019ll try to stay on character,\u201d he said. \u201cThe fight for the breakaway can be quite long, as many teams will be interested in controlling the race.\u201d<\/p>\n

A battle before the race even settles<\/p>\n

In recent editions of Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge, the early breakaway has often formed quickly before the favourites take control later in the race.<\/p>\n

But Veistroffer expects that phase to be more contested this time. \u201cEither a move with six or seven riders goes clear from the very start, or the battle stays on for a good while,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

That uncertainty reflects a broader tension within the race, as teams balance the need to control the favourites with the risk of allowing a dangerous move too much freedom.<\/p>\n

Opportunity within unpredictability<\/p>\n

For Veistroffer, the combination of a late call-up and a race as demanding as Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge creates a unique scenario. There are no expectations placed on him in terms of the final result, but his role in shaping the race could still prove significant.<\/p>\n

Arriving from China with little time to adjust, his focus is simple: take the opportunity and race instinctively.
