{"id":922176,"date":"2026-04-27T16:24:18","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T16:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/922176\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T16:24:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T16:24:18","slug":"claires-shuts-all-uk-and-ireland-stores-with-1300-redundancies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/922176\/","title":{"rendered":"Claire\u2019s shuts all UK and Ireland stores with 1,300 redundancies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Claire\u2019s has shut all its 154 high street shops across the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Administrators for the fashion accessories chain said that around 1,300 workers will be made redundant as a result.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The move does not affect the retailer\u2019s 356 concessions, including many in Asda stores, and its head office.<\/p>\n<p>    <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/0faf031ea4f297e80c7e16fa6b2aeea9.jpeg\" alt=\"Claire\u2019s stock\" loading=\"eager\" height=\"480\" width=\"640\" class=\"yf-lglytj  loaded\"\/> Claire\u2019s Accessories shop in Princess Square Bracknell Shopping Centre (Jonathan Brady\/PA)  \u00b7 Jonathan Brady    <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The retailer \u2013 which is known for its jewellery, clothing accessories and ear-piercing services \u2013 was founded in the US and first launched in the UK in 1996.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">It quickly expanded across UK high streets, but has come under pressure from low-priced online competitors in recent years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The closures come after private equity owner Modella Capital hired Kroll to oversee the administration earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Modella, which also owns former WH Smith high street business TG Jones and Hobbycraft, placed the brand into insolvency after it was hit by \u201calarming\u201d weak Christmas trading.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">It marked the second administration for the business in a matter of months, having originally been bought by Modella from administration in September last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Claire\u2019s had already shut 145 stores, with around 1,000 jobs lost, during the previous administration last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">A spokesman for Kroll said: \u201cAs of April 27, all Claire\u2019s standalone stores in UK and Ireland have ceased trading.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cAll store employees have been advised of redundancy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cWe understand an interested party is in discussion with a number of landlords with a view to taking new leases for some of the sites.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Claire\u2019s has shut all its 154 high street shops across the UK and Ireland.
