With 50 days to go until their first World Cup game, chief football writer John Cross examines the form of England’s forwards as the goals dry up for Saka, Rashford, Madueke, Gordon, Palmer and Rogers.\"England's<\/p>\n

England’s forwards aren’t hitting the mark ahead of the World Cup aside from the prolific Harry Kane<\/p>\n

Harry Kane is breaking records and enjoying what could be a Ballon d\u2019Or-winning season.<\/p>\n

England\u2019s Captain Marvel<\/a> is up to 53 goals across all competitions for Bayern Munich and looks to be in the form of his life.<\/p>\n

So, any question about where England\u2019s<\/a> goals are going to come from should be prefaced by remembering Thomas Tuchel<\/a> has the hottest striker in world football right now.<\/p>\n

But Tuesday marks 50 days until England\u2019s first game of the World Cup<\/a> against Croatia<\/a> on June 17, and goals have suddenly become a concern.<\/p>\n

The issue runs deeper because if, as expected, England use a 4-2-3-1 system, then the supply line and also who else is going to score becomes a real worry.<\/p>\n

Bukayo Saka<\/strong> has 11 in total for club and country, but only two in this calendar year, which has been very stop-start because of injuries.<\/p>\n

Marcus Rashford<\/strong> has 14 but just three since the end of January. Anthony Gordon<\/strong> has 18, but his goals have been as rare as his starts in recent weeks, as his mind may be elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Jarrod Bowen<\/strong> might just be in the best form as he tries singlehandedly to drag West Ham to safety. But even he has not scored in the Premier League since January 31. He has been reliable when it comes to assists.<\/p>\n

Noni Madueke<\/strong> is having a sticky time at Arsenal, Morgan Rogers<\/strong> has managed just two goals in the Premier League in 2026 and Jude Bellingham<\/strong> has yet to score since coming back from a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

This has become a serious worry for England boss Tuchel, who has yet to decide really on who goes as back-up to Kane, let alone who is going to create and score the goals to make his team a potent force.<\/p>\n

It is not just about stats either. You know when teams flow and look as if they will create and score. There are too many players around the England set-up who look tired, fatigued and out of form after a gruelling season.<\/p>\n

Suddenly, Tuchel might have to look at different options like Bowen – who is at least playing well – on the right. Bellingham could be fresh, which is one bonus after his injury.<\/p>\n

But England have some serious issues to solve when it comes to goals – even if they have arguably the most lethal striker on the planet right now.<\/p>\n

Match rating: 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Solid display at the heart of Chelsea\u2019s defence. He was strong in the air, had pace on the ground and read danger signs.<\/p>\n

Current form: 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Having been out for a month with injury, this is a big month for him. He looked back into the groove at Wembley after Chelsea\u2019s dreadful run of form.<\/p>\n

England squad rating: 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tuchel really likes him. Wanted him for Bayern Munich. Rates him highly. I think he goes along with John Stones, Ezri Konsa and Marc Guehi.<\/p>\n

A late substitute with the game already stretched and very hard to judge anything from it.<\/p>\n

The most important thing here is that he is back to fitness and playing, having missed the Brighton game. I like the fact that he has worn the armband recently, as that shows that he is growing in stature.<\/p>\n

Edging ahead of Phil Foden, but there\u2019s plenty of competition. But, increasingly, it feels like he goes if he can prove he is fit.<\/p>\n

Match rating: 6\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Had a big-headed chance which he could not take, and did not get many other openings.<\/p>\n

Current form: 7\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Has been in decent form and been a key part of Leeds\u2019 decent run which has seen them push towards safety.<\/p>\n

England squad rating: 5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n

His chance has surely gone with that headed opportunity at Wembley. Others ahead of him now in the race to be Harry Kane\u2019s deputy.<\/p>\n
