The protests at Anfield could not have been missed by FSG, but a new statement from Liverpool Supporters Group suggests it didn\u2019t do much to move the needle. <\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s fair to say the majority of fans at Anfield to watch Liverpool\u2019s clash with Crystal Palace<\/a> were involved in protesting against the planned ticket price-hikes that were announced for the next three seasons. <\/p>\n

Liverpool officials aren\u2019t budging<\/a> on the decision \u2014 an outcome that is equal parts deeply disappointing and painfully predictable. An official fan statement released on Tuesday afternoon voiced that disappointment, shared what they have heard from club since, and outlined their stance. <\/p>\n

The letter \u2014 posted on X<\/a> \u2014 is almost 500 words long, so here\u2019s a summary of what they said. <\/p>\n

They made it clear that this was not a small pocket of dissent. In their words, it \u2018wasn\u2019t some fans\u2019, but \u2018the overwhelming majority inside Anfield\u2019.<\/p>\n

The club\u2019s stance appears to be that dialogue remains open. Liverpool<\/a> have told them they want to keep speaking to the Supporters\u2019 Board about long-term pricing issues, including what happens beyond the next three years.<\/p>\n

However, that does not deal with the immediate problem. The club have suggested the current increases can only be reviewed if alternatives are found, either through \u2018supporter-focused sponsorship\u2019 or \u2018action across the Premier League\u2019 on ticket prices.<\/p>\n

That explanation has not gone down well. As the statement put it, \u2018Supporters are looking for a resolution now\u2019 and want FSG<\/a> to reconsider what they see as an unnecessary increase at a time of record revenues and huge wealth in football.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the sticking point for fans. Liverpool have been one of the most financially successful clubs in Europe under FSG. Why do additional funds need to come from the pockets of match-going fans? <\/p>\n

Anfield<\/a> has made its feelings clear, and Liverpool supporters are waiting to see whether FSG are prepared to listen. On first glance, it doesn\u2019t look promising. <\/p>\n
