But is Scotland set to see this thundery weather, and if so, where will be affected?<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Scots have been enjoying scorching temperatures that reached as high as 24.4C in Aboyne in Aberdeenshire on the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/scotland-sees-hottest-day-year-35149807\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"hottest day of the year so farLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">hottest day of the year so far<\/a>, April 30. But this sunny spell could come to an abrupt end, reported <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/exact-time-thunderstorms-set-strike-35204679\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"The Mirror.Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">The Mirror.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Met Office meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey warned of &#8220;heavy, short sharp&#8221; bursts of rain that could arrive with hail and lightning. He stated: &#8220;As is the case with thunderstorms, they&#8217;re often quite hit and miss.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The wetter weather is set to arrive on Monday, May 12, with <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/scotland-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"ScotlandLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland<\/a> seeing some light showers, according to Met Office weather maps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Although many areas could do with some rain after a particularly dry spring, heavier showers down south could lead to flooding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">According to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/met-office\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Met OfficeLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Met Office<\/a>, between 20mm and 30mm of rain could fall within just a couple of hours, or as much as 40mm in three hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Motorists have been warned to exercise caution when driving and to be prepared for the possibility of sudden thunderstorms, Mr Vautrey added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But will we see these thunderstorms in Scotland?<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">While showers are predicted for parts of Scotland on Sunday, May 11, and Monday, the forecast <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/bad-weather\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"thunderstorms Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms <\/a>are set to hit southern England and Wales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In fact, Cardiff is forecast to be the worst hit by the thunderstorms at around 4pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Met Office is keeping a close eye on the situation for any further warnings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">From Tuesday, high pressure will return, bringing dry conditions and sunshine across the UK, with temperatures ranging from low to mid 20s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">As rain soaks some parts of the UK, others will remain in the midst of the heatwave.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" seasonal daytime average of 15C from Sunday onwards, with the mercury expected to stay above 20C for the next seven days in some places.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Areas to the west of the UK, however, are expected to be much cooler and far wetter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Dan Harris, said: \u201cFrom Saturday night, into Sunday morning, there is an increasing chance of rain, showers and isolated thunderstorms moving northwards across the southwest of the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;As we continue through Sunday and into Monday, this will extend to other western parts of Great Britain and into Northern Ireland too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;On Monday itself, we could see some particularly vigorous thunderstorms developing, most likely in Wales and parts of southern <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/uk-world-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"England, Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">England, <\/a>whilst elsewhere during this whole period, dry, fine, and increasingly warm conditions are expected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cShould these thunderstorms develop, especially on Monday, there is potential for 25-35mm of rain to fall in an hour or so which may lead to some localised surface water flooding.<\/p>\n<p
