Teacher Clark Eastwood had sex with one of his pupils. The 52-year-old lost his job after the allegation came to light in 2023.<\/p>\n
He admitted abusing his position of trust and having sex with the schoolgirl decades earlier.<\/p>\n
Now Eastwood has been sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years at North Staffordshire Justice Centre<\/a>. The dad-of-two has since found another job.<\/p>\n Eastwood was a teacher at Endon<\/a> High School when he formed a relationship with a 16-year-old schoolgirl.<\/p>\n Prosecutor Christopher Redmond said: “She messaged him and the defendant responded. They began talking and meeting up outside of school and in the classrooms. In school they would kiss but nothing further happened at the school.<\/p>\n “At one point the headteacher was alerted to what was going on. He was called into the headteacher’s office. He was told what was going on was wrong and should not continue. Both were spoken to. However, both ignored the warnings and continued seeing each other.<\/p>\n “The first time she had sex with the defendant was about the time of her exams. She remembers the morning after, he took her to the pharmacy so they could buy the morning-after pill.”<\/p>\n Eastwood, of Cheddleton Park Avenue, Cheddleton<\/a>, pleaded guilty to having sex with a person under 18 while in a position of trust at a school where she was receiving education and he was working as a teacher.<\/p>\n Paul Kay, mitigating, asked magistrates to deal with the case, stating it was within their sentencing powers.<\/p>\n He said: “He was a teacher until 2023 when this matter came to light. He lost his profession. He lost his career as a result of that, even though that had continued for more than 20 years without a stain on his character. It is a tremendous blow. He has felt it very keenly indeed. Sending him to the crown court would increase the pressure on him.”<\/p>\n The suspended sentence includes a 50-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 120 hours unpaid work.
