{"id":926299,"date":"2026-04-29T12:21:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T12:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/926299\/"},"modified":"2026-04-29T12:21:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T12:21:16","slug":"hospital-patients-can-now-check-appointments-in-the-nhs-app-nhs-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/926299\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospital patients can now check appointments in the NHS App | NHS England"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Hospital patients\u00a0at every NHS trust across England\u00a0can now check their referrals\u00a0and\u00a0appointments through\u00a0the NHS App,\u00a0making it easier\u00a0for millions\u00a0of people\u00a0to manage their care in one place.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Around two-thirds (64%) of all hospital appointments are currently visible through the app, with many patients also able to reschedule or cancel appointments \u2013 helping to cut the number of missed appointments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NHS App is now linked up to every acute NHS trust in England, with the tech helping hospitals to save money by reducing the need for paper letters and SMS text messages. The app is also freeing up staff time and resources, which is increasing productivity and helping reduce waiting lists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some\u00a041 million\u00a0people are\u00a0now registered\u00a0with the\u00a0NHS App to\u00a0access services such as\u00a0test results, prescriptions, patient records,\u00a0patient\u00a0messaging\u00a0and appointment information from\u00a0wherever they are.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More than 15 million users logged into the app during March alone \u2013\u00a0up by\u00a0almost a\u00a0third over the last 12 months. Prescription\u00a0ordering through the app also\u00a0rose\u00a0by more than a third, saving time for both patients and NHS staff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jules Hunt, Director General of Technology, Digital and Data for the NHS, said:\u00a0\u201cMillions of patients across England can now easily access information about their hospital referrals and\u00a0appointments through the NHS App, giving them more control and choice about their care and cutting out unnecessary paperwork.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis is a great example of how we\u2019re transforming patients\u2019 experience of healthcare and harnessing digital technology as part of the Government\u2019s 10 Year Health Plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe technology is helping to reduce missed appointments and freeing up\u00a0vital NHS\u00a0staff time so they can tackle waiting lists more effectively \u2013 and I\u2019d\u00a0encourage all NHS App users to make the most of its features.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Zubir Ahmed, Health Innovation and Safety Minister, said:\u00a0\u201cThe NHS App is already transforming the way people manage their care \u2014 and these figures show just how popular it is.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWith patients at every hospital now able to view their referrals and appointments, and millions more ordering prescriptions and receiving health messages digitally, we are cutting the admin burden while helping to drive down waiting lists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFewer missed appointments means more patients getting the treatment they need, sooner. The NHS App is central to our ambition of shifting the NHS from analogue to digital and giving the patient more control \u2013 and we\u2019re only just starting there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Patients at all acute NHS trusts commissioned to provide services for adults can now view their referrals and appointments through the NHS App, with 8.7 million views last month (March) \u2013 up 93% compared to a year ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">People being treated at around half of trusts can receive appointment reminders via NHS App push notifications, preventing missed appointments.
