Queen Camilla has granted Dame Anya Hindmarch a Royal Warrant as an official manufacturer of handbags and leather goods.<\/p>\n
The mark of recognition is given to companies who have spent at least five years supplying services or goods to the Royal Household, and it’s a tribute to their commitment to quality, sustainability and craftmanship.<\/p>\n
Hindmarch told WWD in a statement: “The appointment is a true privilege and affirms our deep respect for the Royal Household and their continued work in support of British brands and sustainability.”<\/p>\n
The latest list was issued on Tuesday (28.04.26), with the handbag designer appearing alongside the queen’s wedding dress designer Anna Valentine.<\/p>\n
Other fashion names listed included clothing and accessories retailer Me+Em, knitwear specialist John Smedley, jeweller Kiki McDonough, and milliner Philip Treacy.<\/p>\n
Hindmarch – who described the honour as “quite special, and a lovely surprise” – is celebrating her first Royal Warrant from the British Royal Family, while Queen Camilla has granted 35 individual warrants since 2024.<\/p>\n
Hindmarch’s label launched in 1987, and has gone onto accessorise the everyone from Diana, the Princess of Wales to Kendall Jenner.<\/p>\n
Soon, she will add the warrant to her label’s branding, and she will be able to add the plaque to her storefront.<\/p>\n
Hindmarch has a lot in common with Queen Camilla and King Charles when it comes to their focus on the environment and sustainability.<\/p>\n
After becoming a dame, she was asked what she spoke to the king about at the event, and revealed: “We did speak about the environment, and he\u2019s always been an absolute trailblazer actually, really so early on and has been a real inspiration.<\/p>\n
We spoke about landfill and we spoke about alternatives to materials that won\u2019t break down, so that was an interesting conversation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe spoke about nettles actually and the amazing things you can do with nettles.\u201d<\/p>\n
When it comes to her designs, her first I’m Not A Plastic Bag cotton tote dropped in 2007, and over 10 years later she released canvas bags made out of recycled plastic bottles.<\/p>\n
She is also behind the so-called Universal bag, which is water-resistant and recyclable, and is made with recycled plastic.<\/p>\n
The Universal items are typically issued as limited edition partnerships, with recent collaborators included Whole Foods, Daylesford, Tesco, Boots and Aldi.<\/p>\n
