Doc Martin<\/a> star Martin Clunes<\/a> has issued a brutal verdict on what he thought about staying in one of Donald Trump\u2019s hotels, an experience so notable that he checked out a day early.<\/p>\n

The former Men Behaving Badly actor was speaking about the worst places he has stayed in, when he remarked that one of Trump\u2019s Scottish properties was among that list.<\/p>\n

Martin<\/a>, 63, was speaking to The i<\/a> about his globe trotting acting and documentary making career when he made his admission.<\/p>\n

The worst stay, the actor and presenter claims, was \u201ca trucker\u2019s shack in Madagascar\u201d. As to why, he explained: \u201cIt was called a hotel, but it was like a series of cells.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe light socket had bits of wire coming out of it and matchsticks in it to wedge in plugs and there was a cup full of condoms on the table.<\/p>\n

Coming in a close second was one of Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s hotels in Scotland. Martin remembered: \u201cIt has the atmosphere of Terminal Five at Heathrow. It\u2019s just bizarre. We checked out a day early.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin\u2019s comments come as it is revealed that the beloved ITV<\/a> series Doc Martin<\/a> is set to undergo a transformation for a US version of the show. However, it is not a remake that will feature the actor in his traditional lead role.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that, instead, fellow actor Josh Charles will take on the character for the American version of the programme.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the US adaptation of the show, which will air on the Fox Television Network, the company\u2019s president Michael Thorn said: \u201cThe story of Doc Martin<\/a> has resonated worldwide with its humanity, originality, and humour, and with Best Medicine coming to Fox, that eccentricity gets a small-town America spin, complete with idyllic charm and absurdity.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiz, Mark, Philippa, Ben, and Rodney have done a terrific job adapting this signature character for the Fox audience, especially in casting the terrifically talented Josh Charles as our lead.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a new era begins for Doc Martin<\/a> in the USA, the programmes time in the UK is coming to an end after 20-years and 10 seasons on the air.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the final season, Martin and producer Philippa Braithwaite thanked fans for sticking by the show through two decades of filming.<\/p>\n

In a statement they said: \u201cWhen we launched the series in 2004 we could never have imagined how much our loyal viewers would take to the grumpy Doc like they have.<\/p>\n

“The series has avid fans both in the UK and throughout the world and we are thrilled that Doc Martin has topped the ratings every time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, after sixteen years we now feel that the time has come to say goodbye to Portwenn.
