Update [Wed 29th Apr 2026, 5:55pm]:<\/strong> The developer has now issued a statement<\/a> on social media:<\/p>\n

“We’re going to cut straight to the chase so you’re not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated. What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We’ll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then– well, that’s it. We’re sorry that it’s come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Original Story:<\/strong> Back in February, we brought you the unfortunate news that publisher Nacon had filed for insolvency following financial troubles<\/a>, and it now sounds like one of its main studios is closing down after struggling to find a buyer.<\/p>\n

French outlet Origami<\/a> is reporting that Nacon developer Spiders \u2014 which makes the GreedFall<\/a> series amongst other RPG titles \u2014 “will soon close” as a result of restructuring at Nacon. We’ll share an excerpt from their report, which has been roughly translated from French:<\/p>\n

“According to our information, Spiders, the Parisian studio behind numerous action-RPGs since its founding in 2008, will soon close. Lacking a buyer for this Nacon subsidiary, the court-appointed administrator in charge of the French publishing group’s restructuring will request its liquidation from the commercial court this Wednesday, a ‘mere formality at this stage’ according to several sources close to the matter.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The report goes on to say that “CV updates and self-study sessions” have recently replaced working on actual games at the studio, as members of the team look ahead to what’s next for their careers. It’s worth noting that this is reported information at present, and we haven’t seen anything directly from Nacon on the matter just yet.<\/p>\n

Looking at Spiders’ work, they’ve made some interesting and cult classic action-RPGs over the years. We’ve mentioned GreedFall<\/a> here, but the team also developed Steelrising<\/a>, The Technomancer<\/a>, Bound By Flame<\/a> and others. If this information is accurate, we hope affected employees land on their feet as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n
