THE SNP<\/a> have told voters \u201cOther parties are trying to stop us\u201d from lowering bills with a large new billboard on\u00a0Leith\u00a0Walk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The billboard aims to highlight a list of key pledges the SNP is making to bring down bills ahead of the election<\/a> in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Swinney pledged to bring about measures<\/a> like a cap on the price of essential food items and a \u00a32 bus fare cap\u00a0if re-elected as First Minister.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He\u00a0also reiterated that an SNP majority would provide the strongest mandate possible for a second independence referendum, and that he would use the platform to negotiate for a second referendum on independence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He says that, with independence, the SNP would have the full range of powers to further reduce energy bills.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cPeople are really struggling with the cost of living \u2013 energy bills, fuel prices and the cost of food are skyrocketing and people are hurting.\u00a0

\u201cAs First Minister, I want to\u00a0take action to support\u00a0people \u2013 reducing the cost of your daily commute, capping the cost of essential foods in\u00a0supermarkets\u00a0and bringing down electricity bills with the fresh start of independence. \u00a0\u00a0

\u201cThe SNP wants to lower your bills \u2013 and the other parties are trying to stop us. They want people to vote for an opposition to stop things happening, I am asking people to vote for an SNP Government to get things done.\u00a0\u00a0

The billboard was unveiled\u00a0in the\u00a0Shrubhill\u00a0area of Edinburgh, halfway down Leith Walk and reads \u201cThe SNP wants to lower your bills, other parties are trying to stop us\u201d.<\/p>\n

The SNP are understood to be increasingly confident of returning an overall majority for the first time since 2011<\/p>\n
