Today, as Lady Sarah Chatto<\/a> marks her 66th birthday, royal watchers are once again turning their attention to one of the monarchy\u2019s most quiet Royal Family members.<\/p>\n

While the late Queen Elizabeth II had four children of her own, those closest to the palace often noted that Lady Sarah, who is the daughter of Princess Margaret<\/a> held a uniquely trusted place in her aunt\u2019s inner circle.<\/p>\n

Growing up as the child of the glamorous Princess Margaret<\/a>, Lady Sarah could easily have followed a very different path. Instead, she carved out a quieter life as an artist, all while maintaining a close and respectful relationship with the late Queen.<\/p>\n

Lady Sarah tragically lost her mother,<\/a> Princess Margaret, in February 2002 when she was just 38 years old.<\/p>\n

Following her death, Queen Elizabeth II and Lady Sarah grew close and the Queen was said to “adore” Sarah, and only allowed her niece to accompany her to her favourite hideaway, Craigowan Lodge, in Aberdeenshire, according to Hello! Magazine.<\/a><\/p>\n

Even when the late Queen lost her beloved husband, Prince Philip, in April 2021, she spent quiet time grieving at her Scottish home of Balmoral, where close family came to visit her. Lady Sarah was one of those family members who stayed with her at this time.<\/p>\n

Last week, King Charles kicked off a series of events to celebrate<\/a> his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II’s centenary, by visiting a landmark exhibition in her honour.<\/p>\n

Princess Margaret’s daughter, Lady Sarah Chatto, also visited Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style at the King’s Gallery in Buckingham Palace, an exhibition by the Royal Collection Trust and was warmly greeted by his cousin.<\/p>\n

A royal insider previously told the Mail<\/a> of the late Queen and Sarah’s close relationship: “The Queen adores Sarah and seeks out her company as often as possible. She is her absolute favourite younger Royal.<\/p>\n

“They are hugely at ease in each other’s company. Much giggling can be heard when they are together. They share a sense of loyalty, fun, duty and the ridiculous.”<\/p>\n

Lady Sarah Chatto is the daughter of Princess Margaret, the younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II, and Antony Armstrong-Jones, a celebrated photographer and designer.<\/p>\n
