“He indicated he was happy to give some over for free out of sheer kindness. The three women entered into the garden area.”<\/p>\n
The prosecutor said they engaged him in conversation and pointed to ‘distract him fully from what might happen in his house’.<\/p>\n
Mr Devine told the court that while the victim spoke with Stanciu and one of the other women, a third woman wearing a red head scarf entered his home and then a fourth woman appeared outside the address.<\/p>\n
Stanciu could be seen using her phone.<\/p>\n

Mr Devine continued: “It is an inference she was in fact communicating with the red scarf lady inside the house because that person had collected cash and jewellery from two places in the houses, secreted it about her person and at a suitable moment came back outside.”<\/p>\n
Around \u00a34,000 worth of savings belonging to the victim’s daughter were stolen from a bag while another \u00a39,000 in cash was taken from a drawer.<\/p>\n
Jewellery with an estimated value of \u00a310,000 was removed from a bedroom and another \u00a32,000 in cash was stolen from an office cabinet.<\/p>\n
In a statement the victim’s daughter said her money had been saved for a family holiday while some of the jewellery had sentimental value.<\/p>\n

Stanciu took part in the burglary despite being handed a community order for an offence of theft two months earlier.<\/p>\n
James Dunstan, defending, said: “This is her first experience of custody. As a result of a family bereavement her partner and the six children referred to in the (pre-sentence) report are in Romania.<\/p>\n
“Consequently she has not seen her children or her partner for many months now. This has caused her anxiety and acute grief.”<\/p>\n
He said Stanciu had received confirmation she would be deported back to Romania once she is released.<\/p>\n
Recorder Ben Close told herr: “There maybe no better illustration than the contrast between his decency and your behaviour that he offered you that food for free, of course entirely unsuspecting you were there to steal from them.”<\/p>\n
He added: “None of the stolen belongings have been recovered. Remorse is referred to but none of it appears to be forthcoming.<\/p>\n
