says one of the comments beneath the street artist&#8217;s latest installation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Under the cover of darkness, the man whose identity is not officially known <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c5y9wlnwl85o?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Byahoo.north.america%5D-%5Blink%5D-%5Bnews%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:installed a statue on a plinth;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">installed a statue on a plinth<\/a> in the heart of London showing a besuited man walking forward off a plinth, apparently blinded by a flag covering his face.<\/p>\n<p>How did he do it?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">James Peak, creator of the BBC podcast series The Banksy Story, asked a question many people have been left wondering: &#8220;How has he got a low-loader to there with all the security and put up a massive resin statue?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In a <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/C82WR71MNqm\/?igsh=MWZpcjl4aXFuemp5bg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:video posted to Instagram on Thursday;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">video posted to Instagram on Thursday<\/a>, the artist showed glimpses of how he was able to install the plinth in the early hours of Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Although the artwork itself would have been months in the making, the operation itself would have been swift.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">You can see yellow traffic cones marking off the area as a large vehicle pulls up before deploying lorry-load stabilisers and someone in an orange hi-viz vest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Someone with protective goggles is seen briefly before the statue is lifted on to the plinth using a hook.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Composite image shows yellow traffic cones marking off the area as a large truck pulls up before putting lorry-load stabilisers in place. \" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/f4ed993b2490a34ce44836f2e7f683df.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Banksy&#8217;s team posted a video showing snapshots of how they did it [Instagram\/Banksy]<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Peak said: &#8220;He&#8217;s got a really big team who are a very, very experienced crew.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;They&#8217;re the sort of dudes who can set up a Metallica concert in 24 hours: groovy folks but actually extremely organised and professional when it comes to getting things done.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;They&#8217;ve probably surveilled the area, worked out what happens when, gone in the early hours with a low-loader truck and they probably sited it in a few minutes, at the quietest time possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Where is it?<img alt=\"Aerial shot of central London with the location of the statue highlighted as well as St James's Park and Trafalgar Square\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"805\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/3e058905d7a8100ddc2b2c6f9d484763.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>[BBC]<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It is located in Waterloo Place in St James&#8217;s, close to Pall Mall and Carlton House Terrace in Westminster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It is very close to other statues including those of Edward VII, Florence Nightingale and the Crimean War Memorial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Many government buildings are located nearby, along with a number of foreign embassies and private members&#8217; clubs.<\/p>\n<p>What do people think?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Judging by the comments beneath his social media post, it has been very well received.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Classic Banksy,&#8221; &#8211; but around the world too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Banksy podcaster Peak added: &#8220;It&#8217;s really clever.
