\n It features work by second-year students, focusing on coordinated garments developed over the past year with an emphasis on commercial design and sustainability.\n<\/p>\n

\n The project forms part of a collaboration between the college and retailers based at Multrees Walk, including Harvey Nichols<\/a> and Johnstons of Elgin<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n \n Students were supported by industry mentors and introduced to aspects of retail such as customer profiling and market-led design.\n<\/p>\n \n \n The exhibition includes finished garments alongside background material on the design process.\n<\/p>\n \n Professor Mal James, programme director at ECA, said: “Having our students\u2019 designs and final garments exhibited within Multrees Walk is a rewarding opportunity for our students.\n<\/p>\n \n “By taking their ideas out with the college studios and directly into the city\u2019s heart of fashion, this allows their creativity to be seen in the same space as some of the world\u2019s leading brands.”\n<\/p>\n \n Dr Patricia Wu, year 2 fashion lecturer and academic project lead, said: “Collaborating on this project has been a delight.\n<\/p>\n \n “It has provided students with an enriching experience, teaching them the importance of commercial design and the relationship between designers and real-world customers beyond fashion shows.”\n<\/p>\n \n The exhibition is free to attend and open daily from 10am to 4pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Megan Atkinson showcases her final piece, Inscribed in Tartan.
