Outgoing Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel<\/a> insists he “feeds off the energy” of criticism after stick from the Parkhead support.<\/p>\n

In March, the Parkhead No. 1 revealed he faced up to 12 months on the sidelines with a torn bicep torn rotator cuff, dislocated shoulder and torn labrum.<\/p>\n

Two surgeries will be required for the shot-stopper who is turning 40 later this year, with the shot-stopper admitting he may have played his last game.<\/p>\n

On the pitch it has been a disappointing campaign for the Dane, having put in a series of disappointing displays that led to sections of the Celtic<\/a> fan base booing the goalkeeper, with Viljami Sinisalo<\/a> stepped up to become Martin O’Neill’s first-choice.<\/p>\n

Despite making appearances at Lennoxtown, the Dane is set to leave Glasgow’s east end when his contact expires this month.<\/p>\n

And in an update with Celtic TV, he signed off his time at Celtic Park.<\/p>\n

Offering an update on his injury, he said: “The status at the moment is I’ve had one surgery, which was an exploratory surgery and a clean-up surgery.<\/p>\n

“The status is there is a lot of damage in there, a lot of infection, and I am going to need another one or two, maybe three surgeries.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, it’s a strange reality at the moment and it has been a strange couple of months trying to wrap my head around it.”<\/p>\n

And Schmeichel<\/a> – who was booed by sections of his own supporters during the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Stuttgart earlier this season <\/a>– was asked about the “support” from fans and “support in a different way”.<\/p>\n

He responded: “I am a sensitive guy. I hear a lot of stuff and I feed off that energy, no question – both positive and negative. But the energy the fans can bring is so important.<\/p>\n

“When you play at Celtic Park and they are with you, you are unstoppable. You stand in that goal and you feel the atmosphere, you feel the drive.<\/p>\n

“I’d hate to be an opposition player there because that is the ultimate weapon Celtic have – that unity and that support. When all that is buzzing, you have won before you go on the pitch, practically. But that is what Celtic is.”<\/p>\n
