Disclosure Day, the mysterious sci-fi thriller from director Steven Spielberg, has confirmed an earlier release date in the UK. Originally slated for release<\/a> on Friday 12 June, the highly-anticipated film is now set to debut in UK cinemas on Wednesday 10 June<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Starring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo, Disclosure Day<\/a> is based on a story by Spielberg, with Jurassic Park writer David Koepp penning the screenplay.<\/p>\n

The logline reads: “If you found out we weren\u2019t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to\u2026 Disclosure Day.”<\/p>\n

While we’ve already been treated to a few trailers<\/a>, the film has been shrouded in secrecy, with current theories suggesting that it may turn out to be a stealth sequel to Spielberg’s classic 1977 film, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Associated Press<\/a>, O’Connor, who plays cybersecurity expert Daniel Kellner, fanned the flames of that theory, saying that the upcoming film answers some questions that were posed by Close Encounters of the Third Kind. <\/p>\n

“There was, of course, a level of secrecy,” said the actor. “When I received the script, I was filming Knives Out 3 and I was in a hotel and a motorbike turned up with the script, and a motorbike turned up to take away the script the next morning. <\/p>\n

“That\u2019s the first time that’s happened for me. It’s a very strange experience but it makes sense. You know, anytime you hear that Steven’s got a film coming out, everyone, myself included, wants to know what it is, so I totally understand why.”<\/p>\n

Teasing fans with what to expect, O’Connor described the film as “the greatest Steven Spielberg story”, adding: “Daniel\u2019s got some special powers. I’m resistant to saying that because I think it sort of overplays him in some ways.”<\/p>\n

Disclosure Day is released in UK cinemas on Wednesday 10 June.<\/strong><\/p>\n
