The Scottish Greens have pledged to open an inquiry into how Donald Trump has funded his Scottish golf courses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Greens have previously pushed for an unexplained wealth order to be used<\/a> to assess how he was able to buy the facilities in South Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire.<\/p>\n

The pledge comes after Zack Polanski, the Green Party of England and Wales’s leader said that Trump\u2019s golf courses should be stripped from him using international sanctions, describing the president as \u201cunhinged\u201d during a press conference in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

He added that it was \u201coutrageous\u201d that Trump was still able to enjoy use of his golf courses<\/strong><\/a> despite his actions on the international stage, including launching the war in Iran with joint US-Israeli strikes and threatening to annex Greenland.<\/p>\n

In response, a spokesperson for Trump International described Polanski as an \u201cimbecile\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Scottish Greens<\/a>‘s external affairs spokesman and former co-leader Patrick Harvie<\/a> said the billionaire \u201cshould never have been allowed to treat Scotland as his personal playground\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cHe is a convicted fraudster, a racist and a war criminal whose politics have brought fear, violence and instability across the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe evidence suggests that he has been ripping Scotland off along the way.<\/p>\n

\u201cYet the Scottish and UK governments have fawned over him because he is rich, powerful and owns a couple of golf courses. That has to end.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody should be above the law, especially not the likes of Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Scottish Government<\/a> should be using every power it has to get to the bottom of it, including an unexplained wealth order.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis would force Trump to reveal where the money he used to purchase assets in Scotland came from, but the Scottish Government has continued to ignore these calls, shielding Trump from any form of scrutiny.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is why Scottish Greens would reopen the case and use an unexplained wealth order to force the transparency that Trump has avoided for far too long.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sarah Malone, executive vice-president of Trump International Scotland, responded: \u201cThese people are completely stupid and will say anything in the hope of grabbing a headline.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir juvenile antics totally undermine their claim to be a serious political party.<\/p>\n
