King Charles<\/a>\u2019 mysterious bodyguard<\/a> has quietly retired from his post, it has been revealed.<\/p>\n

The unnamed security chief, who became a viral sensation on social media, completed his final duty during the King and Queen\u2019s state visit<\/a> to the United States this week.<\/p>\n

He provided close protection during the visit, which was marked by heavy security following a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner last Saturday.<\/p>\n

But it sadly marked his last tour before his retirement, according to The Times<\/a>, although it is understood the couple have asked him to work with the royal household in future.<\/p>\n

Fans of King Charles\u2019 bodyguard have previously compared him to the \u2018Kingsman<\/a>\u2019 for his distinguished beard and large, tightly-furled umbrella that has been nicknamed a “gunbrella”.<\/p>\n

He first gained widespread public attention following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022<\/a> and has since been at major events like the Coronation and Royal Ascot.<\/p>\n

Along with US agents, British police helped to provide a \u201cring of steel\u201d around the King and Queen during their visit, which included snipers and high-tech drones.<\/p>\n

It came after an alleged attempted assassination of US President Donald Trump<\/a> at a press gala held at the Washington Hilton.<\/p>\n

At around 20.35 ET last Saturday, a suspected gunman ran into the foyer at the hotel. Shots were heard, prompting Secret Service agents to rush Donald Trump<\/a> and members of his cabinet out of the room.<\/p>\n

One Secret Service officer was hit but is expected to make a full recovery.<\/p>\n

In an interview following the shooting, Trump said: “I wasn’t worried. I understand life. We live in a crazy world.”<\/p>\n
