A pensioner has been detained by police following the death of a woman in Glasgow<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 71-year-old was found dead after emergency services<\/a> were called to Newfield Square in the Nitshill area at around 9.45pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n Officers<\/a> were responding to reports of a disturbance at a home on the street. Ambulance crews attended but the woman was discovered seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n Police<\/a> have confirmed a 78-year-old man has been detained following the incident. Cops say there is no risk to the wider public.<\/p>\n Extensive enquiries are at an early stage and ongoing.<\/p>\n A Police Scotland<\/a> spokesperson said: “Shortly before 9.45pm on Saturday, May 10 2025 officers attended the report of a disturbance at a house in Newfield Square in Nitshill, Glasgow.<\/p>\n “A 71-year old woman was found seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n “A 78-year-old man has been detained and there is no risk to the wider public.
