While she appreciates Vogue, Anna, and her incredible imagination and stamina, it has never quite been her scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Streep\u2019s daughters, Grace and Mamie Gummer, are attending, as are her Devil Wears Prada 2 co-stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/01\/hollywood\/tom-brady-of-fashion-skips-met-gala-amid-jeff-bezos-backing-controversy-in-blow-to-iconic-event\/\">Page Six Hollywood <\/a>sources.<\/p>\n<p>The Independent has contacted representatives for Zendaya and Streep for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Zendaya has quickly become one of the belles of the Met Gala, attending seven times since her 2015 debut, co-chairing in 2024, and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/fashion\/met-gala-2025-best-dressed-red-carpet-fashion-b2745258.html\">stealing the show last year in an all-white Louis Vuitton suit.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The sponsorship by Bezos \u2014 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/features\/melania-trump-documentary-donald-amazon-movie-b2907863.html\">who recently spent millions on a movie by First Lady Melania Trump via his Amazon MGM film studios<\/a> \u2014 sparked backlash from critics who accused him of buying influence at the prestigious fashion ball.<\/p>\n<p>At <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/met-gala-dress-code-2026-b2925949.html\">various locations near the Metropolitan Museum in New York City,<\/a> posters have popped up with the words: \u201cBezos Met Gala: Brought to you by the firm that powers ICE\u201d and \u201cBoycott the Bezos Met Gala.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The flyer campaign was organized by the British political activist group Everyone Hates Elon, which describes itself as anti-billionaire. The group\u2019s name is inspired by the Tesla tech mogul Elon Musk.<\/p>\n<p>Wintour has attempted to quell the backlash over the couple\u2019s involvement, telling CNN in November: \u201cI think Lauren is going to be a wonderful asset to the museum and to the event.
