He has often credited the support of his family, particularly his father, who has travelled with him extensively to guide his career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Now based in Sheffield, widely regarded as the sport\u2019s spiritual home, he has immersed himself in a new culture, far from family and the comforts of home, in a bid to reach the very top.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">That gamble is beginning to pay off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Already a ranking event winner and the youngest player inside the world\u2019s top 16, Wu has beaten some of the game\u2019s biggest names en route to the Crucible semi-finals, underlining why many believe he is destined to become a future world champion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;New superstar&#8217; and Paul Hunter comparisons<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Snooker legends have not been shy in their praise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Ronnie O&#8217;Sullivan described him as \u201creally special\u201d, while John Higgins likened his style to three-time Masters champion Paul Hunter, once dubbed snooker\u2019s equivalent of David Beckham.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cHe reminds me so much of the late, great Paul Hunter, the way he plays the game,&#8221; John Higgins said of him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;He\u2019s a new superstar. I\u2019m glad that I\u2019ll probably be retiring in a couple of years with guys like that potting them off the lampshades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Asked about the comparison, Wu smiled: \u201cPaul Hunter was a really good-looking guy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Ronnie O\u2019Sullivan, meanwhile, likened Wu to a \u201cmore dynamic\u201d version of Steve Davis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cI practised with him for two or three days in Hong Kong,\u201d O\u2019Sullivan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s not until you practise with someone that you can really appreciate how good they are.
