Jamie Carragher could not hide his frustration as Liverpool slumped to a disappointing defeat at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon<\/p>\n

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was left furious with Federico Chiesa for a terrible throw-in during the closing stages of Sunday’s 3-2 defeat at Manchester United<\/a>. The Reds endured a poor first half at Old Trafford as goals from Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko saw them fall 2-0 down.<\/p>\n

Arne Slot’s side were second-best throughout a laboured opening 45 minutes against their fierce rivals and were fortunate not to be further behind. Liverpool<\/a> regained some composure in the second-half with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai <\/a>and Cody Gakpo drawing them level.<\/p>\n

The Reds had all the momentum at that point as they looked to become the first team in Premier League<\/a> history to beat United at Old Trafford when trailing at half-time. But Kobbie Mainoo’s late strike settled the contest to hand Slot’s men their 11th league defeat of a difficult campaign.<\/p>\n

One moment which will frustrate Reds fans is when Chiesa<\/a> took a sloppy throw-in during stoppage time as they chased the game. And former Liverpool defender Carragher<\/a> criticised the Italian while on commentary for Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI mean, can you believe that throw-in from Federico Chiesa. Unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carragher also shared his view on how Liverpool have played this season under Slot. Critics have suggested that the Reds’ football under their Dutch head coach is too slow.<\/p>\n

But Carragher believes fans need to accept that they won’t be able to watch the high-pressing football played under Slot’s predecessor, Jurgen Klopp.<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old said: “We can’t be a club who continue for the next five or 10 years saying, ‘Oh, we want Jurgen Klopp<\/a> football.’ The fella is a genius. He does football better than anybody. So whatever manager is going to come in, he’s going to play his football.<\/p>\n

“The worry is not that there’s no identity. That is the identity. Don’t forget any sort of Dutch coach, Dutch way of doing things, possession, technical football.<\/p>\n

“You think of the players that have been brought in. They’re not club players. So when people keep saying about like, onto the recruitment upstairs, well, that was the recruitment team. Who were they were club they bring a different style of players in.<\/p>\n

“So it’s on the manager’s shoulders. And I go back to last year when Liverpool didn’t sign anybody, but the one player he wanted was Zubimendi again, another technical footballer.<\/p>\n

“I’m not saying that doesn’t work. The most successful team in the Premier League over the last 10 years have been a technical football team, but we’re going away from what Jurgen Klopp was, because this manager wants that.<\/p>\n

“This is where he’s taken this team. And that’s the worry for me, is this actually going to go more of the other way? Or are we thinking Liverpool needs to go back to last season?
