Police tape off entrance to bar after man seriously injured<\/p>\n

A man has been rushed to hospital after sustaining serious injuries at a Birmingham<\/a> city centre bar.<\/p>\n

The man fell ‘a number of floors’ within a building.<\/p>\n

A major emergency service scene unfolded in Colmore Row<\/a> today with police still at the scene now.<\/p>\n

Officers were stationed on the door of the Henman and Cooper bar, turning away enquiring punters from the venue which a rooftop bar and a spiral staircase.<\/p>\n

Multiple emergency vehicles are at the scene in Colmore Row tonight(Image: BirminghamLive)<\/p>\n

At the height of the scene, there were at least eight emergency vehicles parked up as paramedics<\/a> and police worked to secure the scene.<\/p>\n

Workers held up material at the entrance of the bar to shield the public’s view from distressing scenes.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for West Midlands Police<\/a> said: “We\u2019re currently in Colmore Row Birmingham city centre<\/a>, after a man is understood to have fallen a number of floors within a building.<\/p>\n

“He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re currently at the scene with emergency service colleagues as we seek to establish the full circumstances.”<\/p>\n

The bar is not expected to reopen tonight.<\/p>\n

Colmore Row is a busy street in the heart of Birmingham city centre in the business district close to the Council House and Town Hall.<\/p>\n

A woman, who was drinking in a nearby bar when the incident happened, said she was \u201coverwhelmed\u201d at how quickly emergency services flooded Colmore Row.<\/p>\n

She told BirminghamLive: \u201cI heard pretty soon that a man had been hurt. It looked so serious.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just hope he\u2019s gonna be okay.
