Alan Shearer says Benjamin Sesko’s goal should have been disallowed during Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Liverpool<\/a>. The Slovenian doubled United’s advantage at Old Trafford<\/a> on Sunday but it has since sparked controversy after complaints of handball.<\/p>\n Freddie Woodman pushed Bruno Fernandes’ header into the United forward and as it ricochets up, close-up replays appear to show that the ball brushes Sesko’s fingers. The former Newcastle United striker admitted that he doesn’t want to see goals of such nature be disallowed but felt that if the law is there it has to be applied.<\/p>\n Under IFAB rules, a goal should be disallowed if an attacker scores directly with their hand or arm, even if the contact is accidental, or immediately after the ball touches their hand or arm. The motion of the ball changed, didn’t it? And that’s what you need to look at.<\/p>\n “Like Alan said, we don’t want to see goals given away for this when we are talking about fingernails or whatever, but the law is ‘if it comes off your hand’ which it clearly did in our view, the goal should not have been given.
