{"id":937941,"date":"2026-05-04T21:49:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T21:49:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/937941\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T21:49:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T21:49:16","slug":"liverpool-transfer-news-35m-deal-a-sad-waste-as-fsg-rocked-by-potential-tottenham-swap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/937941\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool transfer news: \u00a335m deal \u2018a sad waste\u2019 as FSG rocked by potential Tottenham swap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Journalist Henry Winter has given his verdict on Harvey Elliott\u2019s time at Aston Villa on loan from Liverpool, with an Italian report revealing the Tottenham Hotspur problem that Reds owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), face in getting a deal done to bring Michele Di Gregorio to Anfield.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/harvey-elliott\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elliott<\/a> joined Villa on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool in the summer of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the arrangements, the deal will become permanent for \u00a335million if Elliott makes 10 appearances for Unai Emery\u2019s side.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has made only nine appearances for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/aston-villa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Villa<\/a> this season, scoring one goal in the process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Harvey Elliott wasted away from Liverpool<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well-known journalist Henry Winter, who has 1.1million followers on X, has given his take on Elliott\u2019s situation.<\/p>\n<p>Winter wrote on <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/henrywinter\/status\/2051053984237179066\" target=\"_blank\">X<\/a> at 10:39pm on May 3: \u201cThe crazy situation that has put Harvey Elliott\u2019s promising career on hold \u2013 stuck at nine games for Aston Villa on loan \u2013 is deeply frustrating on a human and professional level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looks even crazier given the struggles of Villa\u2019s squad players against Spurs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/liverpool\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool\u2019s<\/a> need for some invention and energy, including a stronger option on the right against Manchester United.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a sad waste of a year for Elliott after a terrific Euro Under-21s where he was Player of the Tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe just wants to play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast summer Elliott was looking forward to the season and hoping to force his way into the England senior squad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis loan with obligation to buy after 10 games has proved a millstone given Unai Emery doesn\u2019t want to buy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to feel for Elliott.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClubs, PL, PFA and FIFA (because of the two-team rule) have to work to ensure a young player\u2019s career isn\u2019t put on hold again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElliott deserves better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Want more breaking transfer lines from original sources?
