Pulp<\/a> drummer Nick Banks joined the tribute band Pulp\u2019d for a version of \u2018Disco 2000\u2019 in Sheffield this week \u2013 watch footage below.<\/p>\n

Banks, a member of the Britpop greats since 1986, played along with the band at Fake Festival in the city\u2019s Endcliffe Park on Saturday night (May 10), later posting a video of the performance on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoined Pulp tribute band last night Pulp\u2019d,\u201d he wrote on Bluesky. \u201cHad a blast!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jarvis Cocker<\/a> stand-in introduced Banks to the stage, quipping: \u201cCan you believe this? This is something quite special, it definitely makes Fake Festival history. Because nobody in Fake Festival history has ever had a member of the band that they are tributing get on stage and play a song with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis could all go horribly wrong, you do know that, don\u2019t you?\u201d Banks said before settling down behind the drumkit, but the rendition appeared to go down a treat with the crowd in attendance.<\/p>\n

Posting after the show, Pulp\u2019d wrote: \u201cIncredible night, being joined on stage by @welovepulp legend @realnickbanks at Sheffield @fakefestivals. Thanks Nick for a special experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

The real Pulp, meanwhile, are releasing their comeback album \u2018More\u2019 on June 6<\/a> via Rough Trade. They shared the lead single \u2018Spike Island\u2019 in April, and that track will be available on vinyl from May 23<\/a>. Pre-order both here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Unveiling \u2018More\u2019 in April \u2013 their newest record in 24 years \u2013 Pulp confirmed to\u00a0BBC 6 Music\u00a0that \u201cthe record has been done for a while\u201d and the wait between records felt like \u201ca lifetime\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Playing live] was a big influence on it \u2013 that we played and the songs came back to life,\u201d Cocker added. \u201cWe did play one new song towards the end of the tour and no one threw stuff at us or left to go to the bar. We chose to do it quickly\u2026 it wanted to come out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Pulp are also due to head off on a slew of dates, including a\u00a0UK arena tour<\/a>\u00a0and a\u00a0North American tour<\/a>. Along with two shows at London\u2019s O2, the band will also head to Atlanta, Boston, Detroit and more, finishing with\u00a0two shows at LA\u2019s Hollywood Bowl with LCD Soundsystem<\/a>.<\/p>\n
