Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge have reserved praise for Arsenal star Viktor Gyokeres after he helped his side reach the Champions League final.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday night, the Gunners<\/strong> <\/a>edged past Spanish giants Atletico Madrid to book their place in the Champions League final.<\/p>\n After last week\u2019s 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid, Arsenal won the return leg 1-0 via Bukayo Saka\u2019s winner to seal a 2-1 aggregate victory.<\/p>\n Over the two legs, the north London side deserved to progress and Gyokeres<\/strong> <\/a>produced one of his best performances for them on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n Gyokeres missed a chance to take the game away from Atletico Madrid, but his work in general play was really impressive as he was a handful all evening.<\/p>\n And the striker was praised by Sturridge and Rooney after the match, with the forward standing out as Arsenal\u2019s \u201cbest player\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe drive and tenacity of the players [is what impressed most]. Those are the performances that define top players.\u201d<\/p>\n On Gyokeres, Wayne Rooney added: \u201cHe\u2019s not as flashy as other strikers in the world but he does all the dirty work. He played a massive role in Arsenal winning this game.\u201d<\/p>\n Former Premier League goalkeeper Rob Green, meanwhile, has credited Arsenal for making the second leg a \u201croutine\u201d victory.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was routine wasn\u2019t it, and I mean that as a compliment,\u201d Green said on BBC Radio 5 Live.<\/p>\n
