A West Midlands Fire Service engine in Cheapside, Birmingham, after a blaze was sparked by a stolen vehicle reversing into a shop showroom<\/p>\n

A police investigation has been launched after a stolen car was rammed into shutters in Birmingham<\/a> – causing a fire.<\/p>\n

It happened in Cheapside in Deritend in the city centre at around 4am today, Tuesday, May 5.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> and fire crews attended the scene.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Fire Service<\/a> said its crews had \u2018left the incident with the police\u2019. West Midlands Police confirmed the ram raid, which was said to have involved a stolen car.<\/p>\n

Police said a white Toyota MPV was \u2018deliberately reversed\u2019 into a property, understood to have been the Jaguar Midlands bathroom showroom.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was driven into the shutters, with a fire breaking out at the venue.<\/p>\n

Police said they were looking to find out the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n

The car was said to have been stolen in Birmingham shortly before the incident.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson at Jaguar Midlands confirmed a car had been driven into the building but did not want to comment further.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: \u201cWe\u2019re investigating after a fire at a property on Cheapside, Birmingham, at around 4am today.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s believed a car was deliberately reversed into shutters at the property, before a fire broke out at the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working to establish the cause of the fire, but no one is believed to have been injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur enquiries have established that the car, a white Toyota MPV, had been stolen hours earlier in the Birmingham area.<\/p>\n
