Tributes have been paid to a “lovely” teaching assistant who was found dead<\/a> at a home in Glasgow after a pensioner was detained by police.<\/p>\n Margaret McGowan has been named locally as the 71-year-old<\/a> who died after police were called to a disturbance at a property on Newfield Square in Nitshill at around 9.45pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n Margaret, understood to be a much-loved teaching assistant who worked at nearby Gowanbank Primary School, was found seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n Police<\/a> have since confirmed that a 78-year-old man has been detained. The local community have been left in shock following the incident<\/a> and tributes have be paid on social media.<\/p>\n Sharon Carberry wrote: “So sad, god love her. Thinking of all her family at this very sad time.”<\/p>\n Margaret Ball said: “I remember her, she was a lovely women xxx”<\/p>\n Mcpherson Elle added: “Such a shame Mrs McGowan was such a lovely woman x”<\/p>\n Floral tributes have also been left outside the property and local children have drawn pictures.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the words “RIP Margaret, we miss you” has been written in chalk on the pavement alongside a love heart and a star.<\/p>\n It’s understood police and ambulance crews<\/a> descended onto the scene shortly before 10pm last night.<\/p>\n A cordon was placed near the property and officers remained stationed outside the home overnight.<\/p>\n One neighbour told the Record: “It’s really shocking. We just heard all the sirens at around 10pm and looked outside to see all the police outside. We knew something serious had happened straight away.<\/p>\n “A cordon was placed near the home<\/a>, where an elderly couple stayed. No one will tell us what happened but everyone has been left in shock.”<\/p>\n Another neighbour added: “We don’t want to speak about what happened.
