As a result, an increased number of committee engagement sessions are planned for the show this year and I look forward to hosting a number of events myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-65ex328\">The Speaker will officially open the Assembly marquee on Wednesday 14 May at 9.30am.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight:700\">Health checks and My Care sign-ups among major public services focus<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-guqrc34\">One of the most practical public engagement sessions will take place on Wednesday afternoon when the Health Committee joins the My Care and Farm Families teams to promote free health checks and digital healthcare access.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-m0z4z37\">Visitors attending the session between <strong style=\"font-weight:700\">12.30pm and 2.00pm<\/strong> will be encouraged to access free checks covering:<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-w1im446\">\u2022 Heart health assessments<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-cgqfm49\">\u2022 Lifestyle and wellbeing advice<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-rczp052\">The initiative will particularly target farming families and rural communities, where barriers to routine health screening can often delay early diagnosis of serious conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-267vj55\">The Committee will also encourage visitors to register for the My Care app during the show. Anyone wishing to sign up is advised to bring their healthcare number and photographic identification.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-g42m658\">The Farm Families Health Check service will operate throughout all four days of the Balmoral Show at <strong style=\"font-weight:700\">Stand C7.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight:700\">Energy, environmental and farming issues to feature heavily<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-o14os64\">Energy policy and environmental issues will also form a major part of the Assembly\u2019s public engagement programme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-s939367\">The Economy Committee will use its Wednesday morning session to gather public opinion on the Petroleum Exploration Licensing (Repeal) Bill, legislation which would repeal petroleum exploration licensing in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-kr6f470\">Committee members will conduct face-to-face discussions and opinion polling while explaining the proposed legislation in accessible language for visitors unfamiliar with the detail of the Bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-8fkiz73\">The legislation touches on wider debates around environmental protection, future energy policy, and economic development \u2014 all issues which continue to generate strong public interest across Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-dsspl76\">On Thursday, the Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (AERA) Committee will focus on Anaerobic Digesters and their role in agriculture, waste management and renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-291c679\">The Committee will carry out a public survey while discussing both the potential benefits and concerns linked to anaerobic digestion technology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-90p2182\">Its Balmoral programme will also include a formal committee meeting featuring a briefing from the Centre for Advanced Sustainable Energy (CASE), followed by a joint informal session with the House of Commons\u2019 Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-7nte785\">That joint session will not be open to the public.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight:700\">Public invited to discuss marriage law and Windsor Framework<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-bkb4x91\">The Finance Committee will use its Wednesday afternoon session to seek views on the Marriage and Civil Partnership Bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-mnfvt94\">Visitors will be invited to complete a short survey and discuss how proposed legislation could affect legal recognition, rights and responsibilities for individuals and families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-538j097\">Meanwhile, the Windsor Framework Committee will focus on increasing public understanding of its role in scrutinising post-Brexit arrangements affecting Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-5qalr100\">The Committee plans to engage directly with visitors about issues linked to trade, regulation and the continuing impact of the Windsor Framework on everyday life and business operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight:700\">Assembly promoting greater public understanding of Stormont processes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-kvdwv106\">Alongside the committee sessions, the Assembly marquee will feature a number of interactive attractions designed to make Stormont more accessible and understandable to the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-89kzm112\">\u2022 A new \u201cCommittee Corner\u201d feature<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-xh0d6115\">\u2022 \u201cGet to Know Your MLAs\u201d displays<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-k1z8a118\">\u2022 Video tours of Parliament Buildings<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-r5l0n121\">\u2022 The return of the popular \u201cSuggest-a-law tree\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-qsz56124\">\u2022 A dedicated children\u2019s activity area<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-sh65a127\">The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will also host a Thursday afternoon session highlighting how public spending is scrutinised and how the Committee investigates accountability and value for money within public bodies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-mdtwf130\">Organisers say the aim is to help visitors better understand how Assembly committees influence legislation, challenge government departments and examine public policy decisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-weight:700\">Youth Assembly members to question Speaker at live event<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-urm9v136\">The programme will also include a special Youth Assembly event at 1pm on Thursday when young representatives will question Speaker Edwin Poots MLA on his role and experiences in politics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-x6tyd139\">Topics are expected to include what inspired him to enter politics and some of the most surprising moments he has witnessed in the Assembly Chamber.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-ga7yk142\">Youth Assembly members will also be available throughout the day to speak with visitors interested in their role within Northern Ireland\u2019s democratic process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dUraF _0Jf6a Nv1gb YXSPe\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-umyl1145\">The expanded programme reflects a growing push by the Assembly to increase public participation and understanding of committee scrutiny work beyond the walls of Parliament
