{"id":94204,"date":"2025-05-12T02:16:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-12T02:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/94204\/"},"modified":"2025-05-12T02:16:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T02:16:09","slug":"asia-markets-live-stocks-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/94204\/","title":{"rendered":"Asia markets live: Stocks rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kannai and Chukagai district at night, the hub of Yokohama&#8217;s Chinese district and thriving Chinatown entertainment and business district, full of shops, cafes, and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright Artem Vorobiev | Moment | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Asia-Pacific markets rose Monday over optimism that U.S.-China trade tensions could de-escalate following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/10\/us-china-tariff-talks-to-continue-sunday-official-tells-the-ap.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">superpowers&#8217; talks in Switzerland over the weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both countries alluded to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/11\/us-china-trade-tariffs-talks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">positive conclusion of the high-stakes trade talks<\/a>, with U.S. officials touting a deal to reduce its trade deficit, while Chinese leaders said that they have arrived at an &#8220;important consensus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Treasury Secretary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/28\/treasury-secretary-bessent-says-its-up-to-china-to-de-escalate-trade-tensions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scott Bessent<\/a> noted that the talks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/11\/us-china-trade-tariffs-talks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">yielded &#8220;a great deal&#8221; of productivity<\/a>. Meanwhile, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng said a joint statement containing &#8220;good news for the world&#8221; would be released on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Mainland China&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CSI 300<\/a>\u00a0index climbed 0.42% in early trade, while Hong Kong&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hang Seng Index<\/a>\u00a0gained 0.86%.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s benchmark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nikkei 225<\/a> added 0.29% while the broader Topix index\u00a0was flat.<\/p>\n<p>In South Korea, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.KS11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kospi<\/a>\u00a0index advanced 0.59% while the small-cap Kosdaq added 0.47% in choppy trade.<\/p>\n<p>Over in Australia, the benchmark\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> increased 0.4%.<\/p>\n<p>Investors will be keeping a watch on Indian stocks, following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/11\/fragile-ceasefire-holds-between-india-pakistan-as-trump-offers-help.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">India&#8217;s ceasefire with Pakistan<\/a> over the weekend. The arch rivals were involved in intense firing &#8211; the worst in nearly three decades &#8211; with missiles and drones being fired at each other&#8217;s military installations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/11\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. futures jumped<\/a> as investors await further details on the trade deal between the U.S. and China.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after declines in the three key benchmarks on Wall Street in last Friday&#8217;s session.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a030-stock <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a> lost 119.07 points, or 0.29%, and settled at 41,249.38.
