Asia-Pacific markets rose Monday over optimism that U.S.-China trade tensions could de-escalate following the superpowers’ talks in Switzerland over the weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n Both countries alluded to a positive conclusion of the high-stakes trade talks<\/a>, with U.S. officials touting a deal to reduce its trade deficit, while Chinese leaders said that they have arrived at an “important consensus.”<\/p>\n U.S. Treasury Secretary\u00a0Scott Bessent<\/a> noted that the talks yielded “a great deal” of productivity<\/a>. Meanwhile, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng said a joint statement containing “good news for the world” would be released on Monday.<\/p>\n Mainland China’s\u00a0CSI 300<\/a>\u00a0index climbed 0.42% in early trade, while Hong Kong’s\u00a0Hang Seng Index<\/a>\u00a0gained 0.86%.<\/p>\n Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225<\/a> added 0.29% while the broader Topix index\u00a0was flat.<\/p>\n In South Korea, the\u00a0Kospi<\/a>\u00a0index advanced 0.59% while the small-cap Kosdaq added 0.47% in choppy trade.<\/p>\n Over in Australia, the benchmark\u00a0S&P\/ASX 200<\/a> increased 0.4%.<\/p>\n Investors will be keeping a watch on Indian stocks, following India’s ceasefire with Pakistan<\/a> over the weekend. The arch rivals were involved in intense firing – the worst in nearly three decades – with missiles and drones being fired at each other’s military installations.<\/p>\n U.S. futures jumped<\/a> as investors await further details on the trade deal between the U.S. and China.<\/p>\n This comes after declines in the three key benchmarks on Wall Street in last Friday’s session.<\/p>\n The\u00a030-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a> lost 119.07 points, or 0.29%, and settled at 41,249.38.
