{"id":942082,"date":"2026-05-06T18:26:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T18:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/942082\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T18:26:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T18:26:17","slug":"noise-concerns-as-armley-venue-seeks-new-licence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/942082\/","title":{"rendered":"Noise concerns as Armley venue seeks new licence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>By Don Mort,<\/strong> local democracy reporter<\/p>\n<p>A music venue has delayed its application for a new licence as nearby householders are consulted on noise-prevention measures.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns were raised over drinks being served indoors until 1am and some outdoor events being staged at Project House in Armley.<\/p>\n<p>The Armley Road venue already has a premises licence, but sought updated permission from Leeds City Council to operate.<\/p>\n<p>It would allow up to 12 outdoor events to be held on Saturdays and bank holidays between May 1 and August 31, with music played until 9pm.<\/p>\n<p>A licensing hearing at Leeds Civic Hall, scheduled for\u00a0Tuesday, May 5,\u00a0was adjourned until July at the request of the applicant, Super Friendz Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>A council report said: \u201cThe applicant requires sufficient time to engage with the concerns of\u00a0local residents, commission a noise impact assessment and to prepare their case for the hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Three letters of objection were received from people living nearby on the grounds of potential public nuisance.<\/p>\n<p>One wrote: \u201cWe already hear their events, above the sound of our television with our windows and doors closed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBetween May and September we are likely to want our windows open, which exacerbates the the issue of noise disturbance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The venue had already reached an agreement with West Yorkshire Police over conditions\u00a0on the licence.<\/p>\n<p>They included CCTV, staff training, door searches and crowd control measures.<\/p>\n<p>A licensing report said: \u201cChildren and young people under 18 years of age shall only be allowed on the premises in the company of an adult.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll events will be ticketed with the exception of privately booked functions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A licensing sub-committee will have the option of granting the new application, refusing or allowing it with additional conditions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"By Don Mort, local democracy reporter A music venue has delayed its application for a new licence as&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":942083,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8814],"tags":[81952,263141,748,214244,393,4884,1860,263142,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-942082","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-leeds","8":"tag-armley","9":"tag-armley-road","10":"tag-britain","11":"tag-don-mort","12":"tag-england","13":"tag-great-britain","14":"tag-leeds","15":"tag-project-house","16":"tag-uk","17":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/116529043491176542","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/942082","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=942082"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/942082\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/942083"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=942082"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=942082"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=942082"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
