It comes as residents warned there have been “five street fights in a fortnight” in the area which they say is plagued by anti-social behaviour.<\/p>\n
Last year, residents spoke to Belfast Live about the anti-social behaviour issues on the street, which they labelled “Shameless Green”<\/a>, saying residents had been attacked and intimidated, cars had been burnt out, homes had been criminally damaged and “erratic drug and drink-fuelled rampages” were a common occurrence. Now, one year on, they say the problems continue and have never been addressed.<\/p>\n Belfast Live<\/a> has seen video footage of a recent incident on April 28, when two women fought in the middle of the street in front of children, only for other residents to intervene and break it up. It has been alleged this is one of five fights that have taken place on the street in the past two weeks.<\/p>\n Burnt out cars on Killynure Green in Carryduff(Image: Jonathan Porter\/PressEye)<\/p>\n One resident said, “Over the past year, not a thing has been done, and the same people are still here causing problems for everyone else.”<\/p>\n Alliance Castlereagh South Councillor Jamie Harpur <\/a>has condemned ongoing anti-social behaviour in the Killynure Green area and said that residents have contacted him, saying they are fearful of leaving their homes.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cThe scenes we are hearing about in Killynure Green are simply not acceptable and are not what anyone wants for Carryduff. I have been contacted by a number of residents, including young families, who are now genuinely fearful of leaving their homes.<\/p>\n \u201cThis level of disorder is alarming. Families should not have to witness violence or deal with the aftermath of such destructive behaviour on their doorstep.<\/p>\n \u201cI have spoken to the PSNI<\/a>, who are currently investigating the incidents, and I would urge anyone who has information to assist them with their investigation. It is vital that those responsible are held accountable.<\/p>\n \u201cI will continue to work with the PSNI and council officers to ensure that appropriate action is taken and that residents feel safe again in their own community.\u201d<\/p>\n Castlereagh South DUP<\/a> councillor Brian Higginson said: “I have been on the ground in the Green since early this morning (May 6), working closely with the PSNI and Choice Housing.<\/p>\n “I want to thank members of the local community who helped the resident safely escape from their home.<\/p>\n A burnt out car in Killynure Green in 2025<\/p>\n “This kind of behaviour has no place in our community, and I strongly condemn those responsible for this attack.”<\/p>\n Inspector McCorry said: \u201cOfficers attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service who extinguished the blaze.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are treating this report as arson \u2013 with a line of enquiry that one vehicle was initially set on fire which then spread to another parked in the same driveway.<\/p>\n \u201cThankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the house was occupied at the time with a child inside \u2013 the consequences of what happened could have been far more serious.<\/p>\n \u201cExtensive damage was caused to both vehicles, and enquiries are ongoing today to determine exactly what happened, who was involved and a motive.<\/p>\n \u201cAnyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 149 06\/05\/26.
