The frozen TV dinner of yesteryear is making a comeback – with a new spin for the GLP-1 era.<\/a><\/p>\n Americans have been enjoying frozen dinners in front of their TVs for more than 70 years. The freezer staple<\/a>, introduced as a convenient alternative to a home-cooked meal, is synonymous with the \u201clatch-key\u201d kids of Generation X and often deployed in TV shows as a trope for loneliness. <\/a><\/p>\n But with nearly one in five American adults<\/a> having used a GLP-1<\/a> at some point \u2014 and a large number for weight loss \u2014 many frozen meals are being rebranded as high-protein, high-fiber options geared towards this new market. <\/p>\n In 2024, Nestl\u00e9 launched<\/a> its Vital Pursuit brand of frozen meals, advertised as \u201cGLP-1 friendly\u201d with high levels of protein and fiber. The brand offers meals like a white cheddar mac and broccoli bowl<\/a> with 21g of protein and a meat lovers pizza<\/a> with 32g of protein.<\/p>\n The company released three new meals as part of its Vital Pursuit brand last month, and is planning to expand its GLP-1 offerings even further, Nestl\u00e9 USA CEO Marty Thompson told Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re going to see much more from us in the GLP-1 space, both in frozen and also outside of frozen as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The brand Healthy Choice<\/a>, overseen by food company Conagra, also advertises its frozen meals \u2014 such as a beef merlot<\/a> with 13g of protein \u2014 as \u201cGLP-1 friendly.\u201d The company is set to add six new meals to its line-up of frozen options next month, according to Bloomberg. <\/p>\n Eating enough protein and fiber is key for GLP-1 users. That\u2019s because they tend to consume fewer calories, so it\u2019s important for foods they eat to contain essential nutrients, according to UC Health<\/a>. Fiber can also help alleviate constipation,<\/a> a common GLP-1 side effect.<\/p>\n While some companies are sticking \u201cGLP-1\u201d logos on frozen meal packaging, some say these offerings go beyond that market. <\/p>\n The logo is \u201cthere for folks that are looking for it, but it\u2019s not the entire package,\u201d Timothy Nangle, who manages frozen meals for <\/strong>Conagra, told Bloomberg.<\/p>\n Others have avoided the GLP-1 label entirely.
