Leeds United<\/a> could stay up this season in the Premier League at the expense of a player who left the club in pursuit of top-flight football, West Ham\u2019s Crysencio Summerville.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When Leeds were heartbroken at Wembley in 2024, it looked inevitable that we\u2019d seen the last of Crysencio Summerville<\/a> in a white shirt.<\/p>\n

His dazzling performances dragged Leeds into the automatic promotion picture in Daniel Farke\u2019s<\/a> first season. But, over-reliance on his exploits on the left-wing meant we fell at the final hurdle when he couldn\u2019t replicate.<\/p>\n

Crysencio Summerville and West Ham could be relegated as Leeds United clash nears on Premier League final day<\/p>\n

An up-front fee of \u00a325million<\/a> took Summerville away from Leeds in that summer. He joined West Ham<\/a> and looked to showcase his sharpened qualities back in the top flight.<\/p>\n

Except, now that Leeds have bounced back to the top flight after losing the Dutchman, we\u2019ve since leapfrogged him and Tottenham\u2019s Archie Gray in the process.<\/p>\n

With three games to play, United are on the brink of mathematical safety. Meanwhiel, Summerville\u2019s Irons sit 18th, seven points back from Leeds.<\/p>\n

We head to the London Stadium on the final day of the season. Ironically, we know our fate could already be sealed weeks prior, as early as this Sunday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Given Spurs\u2019 newfound fight under Roberto De Zerbi, Summerville could find himself resigned to the EFL once more with Leeds being the final game of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Crysencio Summerville subject to unnamed transfer interest \u2013 Leeds United sell-on clause information uncovered<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unlikely that Summerville will want to return to the Championship. He proved himself as too good for the division two years younger at 22.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Telegraph\u2019s Mike McGrath<\/a> has reported that the winger is subject to transfer interest from unnamed \u201ctop\u201d Premier League clubs.<\/p>\n

Should the winger leave, the question has to be asked: do Leeds stand to earn anything by virtue of a sell-on clause?<\/p>\n

Well, Graham Smyth<\/a> has previously outlined the issue. If Leeds have included a clause of this nature, any fee Leeds receive would merely be a percentage of the profit made by West Ham. <\/p>\n

Charlie Cresswell<\/a> at Toulouse is a key example for reference. Leeds are due 15% of any profit<\/a> Toulouse earn from his \u00a33.8million Elland Road exit. A reported \u00a321.7million January approach would have netted United \u00a32.7million<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So, Leeds would need the Irons to sell Summerville for significantly more than the \u00a325million they paid for him. In fairness, McGrath\u2019s report suggests West Ham are expecting more than that sum if the winger leaves.<\/p>\n

Although, there\u2019s been no concrete reporting of Leeds holding a sell-on clause in Summerville\u2019s contract. <\/p>\n

But, if he\u2019s to leave following relegation, we can safely assume Leeds won\u2019t be in line for a massive sum. To match the sell-on windfall we\u2019d be earning for Cresswell, you\u2019re talking a fee approaching \u00a350million for Summerville, which he is not worth yet.<\/p>\n
