Manchester United ought to be left with plenty of bargaining power in the transfer market after sealing a return to the Champions League<\/a>. But they have a lot of work to do.<\/p>\n

The extra matches will likely require a bigger squad and that’s before we get onto those who, like Casemiro<\/a>, are due to leave<\/a>. The club will save a chunk on their wage budget when the Brazilian and Jadon Sancho<\/a> move on upon the expiry of their contracts and there is also expected to be interest in other squad members.<\/p>\n

United have had to fight<\/a> to keep hold of captain Bruno Fernandes<\/a> in the past and the Portuguese has once again attracted interest. With the World Cup starting on June 11, it might be difficult to get all the planned business done early.<\/p>\n

A decision on the club’s next permanent manager<\/a> may well be a primary target, though, with decision-makers yet to decide whether they stick with interim boss Michael Carrick<\/a> or turn to someone with more top-level experience.<\/p>\n

Fernandes eyed by Galatasaray<\/p>\n

United captain Fernandes remains a dream target for Galatasaray, according to Sky Sport Deutschland<\/a>. However, the Turkish side are said to be pessimistic over their chances now that United have qualified for the Champions League.<\/p>\n

Gala, who won the Turkish Super Lig last season, are four points clear of closest challengers Fenerbahce with two matches left this season. They are reported to be going after a new No.10 as well as a deeper-lying midfielder.<\/p>\n

The Istanbul club haven’t been afraid to splash the cash in recent windows, adding the likes of Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sane. Fernandes isn’t a new name on their list of targets but they accept a move will be tricky now that the Portuguese’s current club have returned to European football’s top table.<\/p>\n

Casemiro won’t be a United player next term, despite a strong second half to the season leaving some hopeful he might go back on his decision to leave. The Brazilian has yet to decide on his next move, but a Major League Soccer switch has been heavily rumoured.<\/p>\n

Inter Miami are among the interested parties and Sky Sports<\/a> reports that the midfielder would be prepared to take a significant hit on his wages to move to Florida. Part of the reason for the preference, it has been claimed, is that he wants to play with Argentina star Lionel Messi<\/a> after years on the opposite side of the Clasico rivalry.<\/p>\n

Messi and ex-Real Madrid ace Casemiro have faced off 20 times for club and country, each finishing on the winning side eight times. Inter Miami are on the lookout for a new defensive midfielder after the retirement of Sergio Busquets but rivals LA Galaxy have also been linked.<\/p>\n
