Welsh<\/a> singer Bonnie Tyler has been placed into an induced coma following emergency surgery in Portugal.<\/p>\n On May 6th, it was confirmed on Tyler\u2019s website that she underwent emergency intestinal surgery in Faro, Portugal, where she is being treated.<\/p>\n Now, in a new update, a spokesperson for the singer confirmed on May 7th, \u201cBonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n Their message continued, \u201cWe know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please.\u201d<\/p>\n They also promised to \u201cissue a further statement when we are able to\u201d.<\/p>\n In the initial statement<\/a>, the spokesperson said, \u201cWe are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n It continued, \u201cThe surgery went well and she is now recuperating. We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n Tyler, who released her debut album\u00a0The World Starts Tonight\u00a0in 1977, has been a mainstay in the music business throughout the last six decades and remains active today.<\/p>\n Notably, Tyler was awarded an MBE for her services to music in 2023, and also represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest<\/a> a decade earlier.<\/p>\n Upon accepting her MBE, Tyler said it was an even greater achievement than being nominated for three Grammys, stating, \u201cI never ever thought I would have something like this, my mother and father would be so proud. To be nominated for a Grammy<\/a> was wonderful, but to be given an MBE for something I absolutely love doing is a highlight of my career.\u201d<\/p>\n Tyler\u2019s most recent album,\u00a0The Best Is Yet to Come, arrived in 2021.<\/p>\n She had been due to play shows later this month in Malta and Germany, which, as of writing, are still listed on her website.<\/p>\n Tyler\u2019s website also lists more summer shows throughout Germany in June and July, as well as visits to T\u00fcrkiye, Czechia, Hungry and Romania. She is also set to perform at Summer End\u2019s Angus in Scotland and the Sunshine Festival in England. <\/p>\n
