Nearly \u00a3300,000 in compensation linked to clinical negligence claims involving mental-health services has been paid out over the past decade.<\/p>\n
A total of 17 claims were made against the Health Minister or Health Department between January 2015 and the present, with total compensation payments amounting to \u00a3290,878 over that period.<\/p>\n
Fewer than five of the claims progressed to court through an Order of Justice, while the remainder were resolved without reaching that stage or did not proceed further.<\/p>\n
The figures were revealed following a request made by Express under the Freedom of Information Law.<\/p>\n
Outcomes across the cases varied, including out-of-court settlements, claims where liability was denied and subsequently discontinued, and cases that did not progress.<\/p>\n
The claims themselves were linked to a limited range of issues, including patient discharge decisions, case management, and medication management.<\/p>\n
The figure represents damages settlements only and does not include legal costs or any payments covered by insurers.<\/p>\n
Due to the small number of cases, authorities declined to provide a year-by-year breakdown, citing privacy concerns and legal exemptions.<\/p>\n
The government also withheld detailed annual compensation figures, arguing that releasing such information could risk identifying individuals involved and potentially prejudice the commercial interests of Health and Care Jersey.<\/p>\n
