{"id":945609,"date":"2026-05-08T07:51:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T07:51:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/945609\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T07:51:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T07:51:14","slug":"reform-uk-gains-seats-in-north-east-lincolnshire-council-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/945609\/","title":{"rendered":"Reform UK gains seats in North East Lincolnshire Council election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Reform UK councillor Oliver Freeston retained his seat in the Croft Baker Ward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Freeston was the youngest elected councillor in 2018 at the age of 18 when he was standing for the Conservatives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He defected to Reform UK in 2024 and stood as the party&#8217;s parliamentary candidate for Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes, but came second.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Freeston said local people had voted for his party because they &#8220;felt forgotten about, they felt ignored&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;They felt as if the political class didn&#8217;t properly understand the everyday problems that we face,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;But people like me, people like my colleagues who have stood, we understand it because we live it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Freeston said Reform UK would look to improve North East Lincolnshire by cutting council waste and supporting local businesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Reform UK councillor Oliver Freeston retained his seat in the Croft Baker Ward.
