sentiment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Locally Labour has been terrible and the national party too,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We know the pressure will be on Keir Starmer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Reform candidates, such as Aniraj Sharma, were feeling optimistic as the morning went on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;People were not happy with Labour because of the way the council has been performing in the last two years,&#8221; the Harborne candidate said, adding key issues on the doorstep were bins &#8220;not being collected&#8221;, potholes and illegal immigration.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Birmingham count\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/7502696b-cd5e-478d-93c6-10e58c5f9fb6.jpg.webp\"  width=\"5712\" height=\"4284\" class=\"ssrcss-egie1y-Image edrdn950\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Asked about residents who are worried about the potential rise of Reform in Birmingham he said there are also people who are concerned by other parties such as Labour and the Greens<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I think Reform will make a positive change,\u201d he said. \u201cWe need a chance, we need to prove a point.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Independent candidate for Harborne James Cross said at the count that voters may be turning away from Labour because &#8220;they ran the council into the ground&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Hakil Ahmed, independent candidate for Bordesley and Highgate, predicted Reform and the Greens could be big winners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We\u2019ve had the two party system for too long,&#8221;
