{"id":946733,"date":"2026-05-08T19:33:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T19:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/946733\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T19:33:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T19:33:32","slug":"sandwell-local-election-results-2026-in-full","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/946733\/","title":{"rendered":"Sandwell local election results 2026 in full"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/who-can-vote-local-election-33776242\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Voters <\/a>in Sandwell in the West Midlands have had their say in the 2026 <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/local-elections\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">local elections<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Seats on Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council were up for election in the wards of Bearwood; Blackheath; Bristnall; Charlemont &amp; Grove Vale; Cradley Heath &amp; Old Hill; Friar Park &amp; Stone Cross; Great Barr, Tamebridge &amp; Yew Tree; Great Bridge; Greets Green &amp; Lyng; Hateley Heath; Hill Top; Langley; <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/newton\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Newton<\/a> &amp; Valley; Old Warley; Oldbury; Princes End; Rowley; Smethwick; Soho &amp; Victoria; St Pauls; Tipton Green; Tividale; Wednesbury and West Bromwich Central.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">All 72 seats were up for grabs on Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, with three councillors elected in each ward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Elections in Sandwell usually take place in three of every four years with a third of councillors elected each time. However, this year is an all-out election due to new boundary changes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Sandwell Council is a metropolitan borough council responsible for some local government services including recycling, council tax collection and planning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Ahead of the election, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council was run by <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/labour-party\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Labour<\/a> holding the majority of 64 seats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 7, with the count taking place on Friday, May 8. Results for the Sandwell local elections are due from 5pm on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In total, more than 5,000 council seats were up for grabs across 136 local authorities in England on election day. Mayoral elections also took place in six areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Below you can see the full results for every seat up for election in Sandwell.
