Michael Carrick has explained how Bruno Fernandes is currently thinking about playing for Manchester United, ahead of a huge summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2025\/26 season has been Bruno Fernandes<\/a>\u2018 best of his career, showing zero sign of slowing down as he chases records in the final three games of the season.<\/p>\n

As a reward for his performances this season, Fernandes has won the FWA Footballer of the Year<\/a>, as voted by over 900 sports journalists in England.<\/p>\n

Fernandes\u2019 brilliance has once again carried United, and without him, we wouldn\u2019t be playing Champions League football. <\/p>\n

Concerningly, this summer is reportedly set to see him consider his options.<\/p>\n

Now, speaking to the press ahead of United vs Sunderland this weekend, Carrick was asked about the future of Fernandes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Bruno, you can see he\u2019s happy, and he\u2019s playing some fantastic football. Maybe he\u2019s as good as he\u2019s played ever, and he\u2019s had really good spells here.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo he looks happy. I think he\u2019s got a big end to the season here. He\u2019s got a big summer, of course. But yeah, as a football club, we love having him here. He\u2019s a big part of what we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fernandes is Mr. Manchester United in this current era, and he is evidently happy, but he deserves more in terms of playing for a team challenging for titles.<\/p>\n

Ineos promised Fernandes success<\/a> when he penned his new deal in 2024; this summer, they need to keep that promise.<\/p>\n

Fernandes might be happy, but to keep him happy, United need to challenge next season and be in the title race throughout the campaign.<\/p>\n

This season, despite the tragic August and December under Ruben Amorim, United still sat within the rear-view mirror of the title chasers.<\/p>\n

Without Amorim and with midfield improvements, United could easily have made it a three-way race challenging for the title this season.<\/p>\n

Next season, Carrick just needs to replicate the form he\u2019s led United to since January, and it would be enough to be in a title race.<\/p>\n

This summer is key, but a title challenge next season feels on the cards.<\/p>\n
