{"id":947695,"date":"2026-05-09T06:03:19","date_gmt":"2026-05-09T06:03:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/947695\/"},"modified":"2026-05-09T06:03:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-09T06:03:19","slug":"excitement-for-all-as-annual-may-fayre-returns-to-sheffield","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/947695\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Excitement&#8217; for all as annual May Fayre returns to Sheffield"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Weston Park May Fayre is set to return to the city on the 17 May, providing many fun attractions for families and friends.<\/p>\n<p>The event is a partnership between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council, and will be free of charge \u2013\u00a0with many popular acts returning to one of Sheffield\u2019s favourite green-spaces. <\/p>\n<p>These acts include: The Old Fairground Carousel, Granny Turismo, the Helter-Skelter, Theo the Bear and his friends the Stormtroopers, Elton Wong, and more. <\/p>\n<p>Morris Dancers will also join this year\u2019s line of acts, a new addition to the line up, promising a refreshing experience of entertainment for those attending.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pip Strafford, Marketing and Communications Manager at the University of Sheffield, said: \u201cIt\u2019s part of our commitment to cultural vibrancy in the city, and it\u2019s a love letter back to the city. It\u2019s about giving back to the region and giving back to the people of Sheffield.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe University is very passionate about culture in the city. So, both Sheffield City Council and the University are working together to really deliver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/University-Of-Sheffield-May-Fayre0032-2-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71188\"  \/>Elton Wrong playing the Piano<\/p>\n<p>Thousands are expected to flock to Weston Park, thanks to the major cultural appeal of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the event\u2019s popularity, Mr Strafford said: \u201cIt\u2019s so popular because it\u2019s just one of those things that\u2019s been going for so long. It\u2019s almost like the tramlines in terms of its notoriety and it\u2019s viewed as a real point in the cultural calendar of Sheffield. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always in people\u2019s diaries. They know what to expect. So it\u2019s great if you need something to do with the kids, or you just want to come and hang out in the park, have a picnic and watch the acts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Weston Park May Fayre has been held for 20 years, with many working to bring the event to life each year.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Strafford said: \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of management, as you can imagine. There\u2019s lots of risk assessments. We have to really work with the council.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd there\u2019s lots of teams involved both from our side and the council side. But that\u2019s why it\u2019s a really fantastic collaboration between us and the council.
