There were 27 companies across Greater Manchester<\/a> that closed their doors for good in April, including Seven Brothers’ Media City Beerhouse.<\/p>\n

A variety of firms across the ten boroughs either appointed administrators<\/a> or appointed liquidators last month, according to official records.<\/p>\n

It comes as around 100 companies in total across the region<\/a> have been forced to call in administrators so far this year, with the number of companies affected peaking in January at 45.<\/p>\n

Posting on social media, Seven Brothers Media City said it was with a ‘heavy heart’ that they were closing their Beerhouse. They said: “It\u2019s with a heavy heart that we share some sad news. As our current lease comes to an end, we won\u2019t be renewing and instead focusing our time and energy on 11 CENTRAL, our social bar & restaurant just across Media City at Quayside.”<\/p>\n

Tom Russell, President of R3, the UK\u2019s restructuring, insolvency and turnaround trade body, explained: “A company is insolvent when it doesn\u2019t have enough money to pay its debts or outgoings when they are due.<\/p>\n

“One option open to an insolvent company is to enter administration. This involves the appointment of a licensed insolvency practitioner as administrator to take control of the business.<\/p>\n

“The administrator has the primary objective of saving the company as a going concern, but if that is not possible, they can also sell parts of a business or other assets to fulfil their duty to achieve the best possible outcome for creditors in what are often complicated and difficult circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n
