and &#8220;not my King&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The protest represents the third such event organised by Republic, which has significantly expanded its operations and public presence in recent years.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Republic | Source: PA\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/aol_gb_news_274\/1bc62bde57bd6588eec9e2b633bfaa8c.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Republic | Source: PA<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators gathered first at Trafalgar Square before proceeding to the royal residence, where they aimed to make a visible statement against the continuation of monarchical rule in Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Graham Smith, the 52-year-old who leads Republic, said the organisation has experienced a dramatic transformation following the late Queen&#8217;s passing and King Charles III&#8217;s subsequent coronation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The death of the Queen and the Coronation completely changed everything for us,&#8221; Mr Smith said. &#8220;We suddenly grew, we suddenly went from one member of staff to loads of staff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He pointed to a significant shift in public attitudes, noting that two decades ago, such demonstrations simply did not occur.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In 2022 we could not have even thought of doing something like this,&#8221; Mr Smith explained. &#8220;It wasn&#8217;t on the cards, we didn&#8217;t have the staff or the money.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Republic | Source: PA\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/aol_gb_news_274\/8aabc3dd70edf246d6e071934deeb67a.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Republic | Source: PA<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth McIntyre, a London-based Republic member, expressed her fundamental opposition to Britain&#8217;s social structure.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I really object to the class system in this country,&#8221;
