You may have forgotten, but in 2024, Warner Bros. announced a movie starring Batman villains Deathstroke and Bane<\/a>. Between then and now, the studio\u2019s been mum on it, but the project still lives and may be gaining some momentum.<\/p>\n

We say \u201cmay\u201d because according to Deadline<\/a>, Greg Mottola is a frontrunner for directing duties. Mottola\u2019s credits include Paul\u00a0and\u00a0Confess, Fletch,\u00a0but he\u2019s more recently directed two episodes of\u00a0Peacemaker. That may give him a distinct edge over \u201cothers\u201d being looked at, but Deadline didn\u2019t say who else was in the running. Currently, the film\u2019s still in its infancy, to the point a script hasn\u2019t been turned in and no contracts have been drawn up. At time of writing, there\u2019s also no one who seems a likely lock to play either of the two villains. (Obviously.)<\/p>\n

On the big screen, only Bane has had any real screentime in Hollywood thanks to Batman & Robin and The Dark Knight Rises. Deathstroke\u2019s cinematic potential<\/a> was seemingly cut off when the DCEU died, but both of them have regularly appeared in TV and video games. Bane will appear in WB Animation\u2019s upcoming take on the Knightfall\u00a0storyline<\/a> that introduced him, and Deathstroke\u2019s been a recurring player in Arrow, Young Justice, and direct-to-video movies. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Deathstroke and Bane, whenever this movie lands, will be the latest DC baddies to headline their own feature. Ahead of them is Clayface<\/a>\u00a0in September, which should hopefully get fans excited to see what\u2019s in store for these two\u2026 plus whoever is eventually brought on to be Batman.<\/p>\n
