Hayden Panettiere\u2019s estranged mom, Lesley Vogel, is questioning the timing of the \u201cHeroes\u201d star coming out as bisexual<\/a> as she promotes her new memoir, \u201cThis is Me: A Reckoning.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI do not believe it was being hidden, but there is no historic proof that this is the case,\u201d the former momager told Daily Mail<\/a> in an interview published Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do think the timing of this coming out is very interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Panettiere opened up about her strained relationship with her mom in her Us Weekly interview<\/a> \u2014 where she also shared her sexuality for the first time \u2014 earlier this week. <\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, we don\u2019t have a relationship right now. But that doesn\u2019t mean that I don\u2019t leave the door open for the opportunity to present itself one day. It\u2019s hard for me to say, but I\u2019ve chosen to be brutally honest,\u201d she told the outlet. <\/p>\n

A rep for the actress did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment. <\/p>\n

While discussing her sexuality (which she explores in her memoir), the \u201cBring it On\u201d star admitted she never felt it was \u201cthe right time\u201d to share her truth publicly, but she quipped it\u2019s \u201cbetter late than never.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was either I was too young, and I was being forced to be perfect at all times. I was not encouraged to just be myself,\u201d she explained. <\/p>\n

\u201cThen came the period where it felt like people coming out, especially women, saying that they were bisexual or liked girls, was a fad. I was afraid that if I was honest, it was going to be like me jumping on the bandwagon. It was a very difficult topic to articulate properly. It\u2019s sad I had to wait until I was 36 years old to share that part of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for if she\u2019s ever dated a woman, Panettiere revealed that she has \u2014 but, she has yet to fall in love with a woman.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was scary, though, because there were paparazzi always waiting for me outside to follow me everywhere,\u201d she recalled, noting that she was \u201cmuch more into women even as a child than \u2026 men.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Golden Globe nominee continued, \u201cI have explored it, but because I hadn\u2019t shared this with anybody, I didn\u2019t really have the courage to throw myself fully emotionally into it. Because then if I did fall in love, that wasn\u2019t something that I wanted to ever have to hide.\u201d<\/p>\n
