Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou reiterated “he couldn’t care less” about Manchester United<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n United and Tottenham have suffered abysmal Premier League<\/a> campaigns, but they have both made the Europa League<\/a> final and will compete for silverware at the Estadio de San Mames on May 21.<\/p>\n Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a 17th defeat in the league against West Ham last weekend, while Tottenham slipped to a 20th defeat of the season after losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n United and Tottenham currently occupy the two places above the relegation zone, and Postecoglou was asked whether it was heartening to see United going through similar struggles ahead of the final.<\/p>\n “Nah, I said before, I couldn\u2019t care less about Man U,” he said. “They have their own journey. It is about us and what we\u2019re trying to create here. It is too easy to accept a performance [against Crystal Palace] that is not up to the level because of other factors.<\/p>\n “I think irrespective of other factors, you should still be able to perform at a certain level and we didn\u2019t reach that level today. That\u2019s disappointing.”<\/p>\n Postecoglou touched on Spurs’ season, adding “People are banging the drum about this record with defeats, but if people don\u2019t see there is a correlation between the two, I am not going to sit here and, it\u2019s not exactly Pythagoras’ theorem. It\u2019s quite simple to understand we would have had much better results if we didn\u2019t have to navigate this. So, either you understand or you don\u2019t and beat us over the head, I get it.<\/p>\n “I am not happy with the way we performed today, so that\u2019s what I look at. I think we could have performed better and irrespective of the result you can still lose a game of football and our performance level wasn’t anywhere near where it should be. That’s my responsibility to address.”<\/p>\n Postecoglou insisted he didn’t know his starting team for the final in Bilbao. “We lost Lucas [Bergvall] the day before a game. You’ve got to be ready for your opportunity,” he explained. “They may think that this team’s already set, but if there’s nothing else we’ve learnt this year it’s that nothing goes to plan.<\/p>\n “So I’m not thinking about the starting line-up now for the final because we’ve still got another game and 10 days to navigate, so if there is that attitude in there then it’s the wrong attitude because you’re missing an opportunity.
