I went into “Swapped” expecting a blatant knock-off of Pixar’s “Hoppers,” but it proved to have plenty of charm all its own. Rather than diving into sci-fi territory or environmental messaging, it plays out more like “Freaky Friday” set in the animal world for a lighthearted body-swap adventure with plenty of personality.<\/p>\n

The story follows two animals who could not be more different: Ollie (played by Michael B. Jordan in his first post-Oscar role), an otter-like creature estranged from his family, and Ivy (Juno Temple), a confident bird of prey perched at the top of the food chain. The two come across some magical flora that traps them in each other’s body, forcing the two to form an uneasy alliance that blooms into something more as they race to prevent their fragile ecosystem from falling apart.<\/p>\n
